Agree. For example, the whole thing about there being social security recipients who “appear” to be about 150 years old. A cursory look would undoubtedly have told him it’s a survivorship recipient. His lack of knowledge or basic curiosity is astounding.

The intent is to play to their base and fox news which will pick up from there and it's working out for them. They don't care for anyone else or anything, just play for the Maga crowd and get on with their steal. This is all a charade to distract while they prepare the huge tax cuts promised to the billionaire class. It humanized Musk and it humanized Trump. I hate Trump as much as a person can hate a person - and I don't understand why he isn't posting nonstop photos of him with his grandkids. I think having the dads hate them gave them a complex for sure.

Needing family members around proves their insecurities. But it's family affair in that most people crave power and it makes sense that it becomes a power grab for the entire family.

They obviously made a deal - Elon bankrolled Trump's costs for WH and once in, Trump owes him the co-presidency. I just still believe that Elon will get sick of it or dial it back at least after a period of time. Trump is just happy to be the front man, I don't think he really wants to do much work anyway so it is an arrangement that works well. While Elon has had businesses and money, he's never known what political power can be.

Ironically, I also think there is a slight dash of sincerity in that Elon is conceited enough to believe he can fix the government to be more effective as a businessman. He doesn't get how wrong that concept is - govt can't be run like a business because it's 2 different goals - business is about efficiency and profits while govt is about no profit and 100% support for people so it's not efficient by it's definition.

Elon's track record has been to give up and move on to the next conquest. He dabbles. Once he gets into something else, he'll have less a focus on doing everything (running DOGE). It's going to be a world of pain for all of us in stress and chaos until that time of course but I think the key to remember is that he'll dabble. Congress ultimately still retains the power to change and SCOTUS as well to confirm those changes stick. I have faith that as corrupt as those 2 bodies are, I just don't think Elon can break 250 years of tradition.

If/when Vance succeeds Trump, it'll prob look scarier because instead of wanting govt to run like business, the goal will shift to creating a crazy right wing country.
