Wikipedia:
In April and May 2020, United States President Donald Trump dismissed the inspectors general (IGs) of five cabinet departments in the space of six weeks.[1][2] The inspectors general removed were Michael K. Atkinson, Intelligence, on April 3; Glenn Fine (acting), Defense, April 7; Christi Grimm (acting), Health and Human Services, May 1; Mitch Behm (acting), Transportation, May 15; and Steve Linick, State, May 15.[3] In four of the cases the announcement was made late on a Friday night in a classic Friday news dump.[citation needed] In several cases the fired IGs had taken an action which Trump disliked, so that the dismissals were widely described as retaliation.[4] In two other cases, questions were raised about whether the dismissals related to ongoing IG investigations into the conduct of the cabinet secretary in charge of that department.[5][6] The cumulative firings were often described as a "purge"[7] or as a "war on watchdogs".[8][9]

It’s 17 people at once, many in which he hired himself the first administration, not performance based.
Obv he didn’t like their performance and considering the poor job the last administration did and the state things have been left in, seems reasonable to replace some staff. People voted for him bc they want change
He violated the law
np Yes and he was supposed to notify Congress
Just a guess. He has people on the inside with evidence of specific wrong doing and those that were fired will not contest it if they are confronted with that evidence.

Ask Andrew McCabe and the other FBI agents he “fired” during his last administration. Federal Judges reversed the firings, ordered back pay and the payment of punitive fines by DOJ. In the end, it’s the taxpayers who bears the brunt of these shoot from the hip decisions. They’re all likely millionaires now.

The ignorance continues to take me by surprise.

ANYONE not doing their job,
MUST be FIRED.
Trump is a business person, not a lifelong dumbass politician, like Pelosi, Schumer and Chinese Mitch.
The Senate is going to ask for evidence that they weren't doing their jobs.

But make no mistake, the stain of it will never wash off the people who participated and their children. I know, I've seen it before.
The frightening thing for me has been the dawning realization that a certain percent of the population has always had MAGA-type ideas: isolationism; an attitude of as long as I get mine, I don't care about anyone else; fear and/or hatred of the "other," particularly non-hetero people; discomfort with the growing number of non-white Americans; discomfort with the rise in economic and social power of women and what they perceive as the corresponding loss of that power in men; feelings of victimization; and so on and so forth.
