I'm sick of living in the post-truth era. I think we need to take action. There should be a legal defense fund, to go after the liars out there for defamation, libel, slander, wherever it occurs. Start with those who have deep pockets, and follow the Dominion playbook, hit the dishonest media outfits and the deranged Alex Jones types and go after them for multi-million dollar settlements. Take a chunk of the proceeds and build up a warchest and a seasoned legal team. And then just keep hitting them and hitting them and hitting them until they are either ruined and bled completely dry, or until they finally learn their lesson and stop lying.

It sure does. His position is a totally normal position that has, for various reasons, engendered feelings toward him that may cause unhinged loons to do something dangerous towards him. He is/was not receiving protection for something he did as a private citizen but because of work that he did as a government employee.
