Op you are not into chaotic children’s birthday parties (and yes they are always chaotic)
Now you know it’s not your thing. So you can have a spouse or family member take him next time or you can just politely decline it! I promise you no important bonding is occurring between kids or parents that you are missing out on. Part of parenthood is realizing you don’t have to sacrifice yourself at the alter of Chuck E. Cheese every time it’s called for. There will be plenty of time to interact with parents and kids in less stressful situations.

I would have kept the chair when I saved it and let son eat with dirty hands. He'll survive dirt.

OP’s reporting is emotional, not accurate. After the original chair was taken, there were 1-2 chairs. They stood by while other kids took them instead of taking one. Then the host offered a chair and kid didn’t take it. It was only after this that kid was without a chair.

After kid refused host’s offer of a chair, why should other guests offer a chair. I mean at that point it’s a parent issue to solve, not the problem of other guests.

OP said there were 20 chairs. I bet there were 2 parents who may have thought all the kids were seated, totally oblivious, were sitting there the whole hour when kids were playing and planning to get up or just completely clueless.

I can’t imagine grown ups sitting at a kid table. Usually these places have benches or extra chairs and tables. Most parents stand.
