A vote for Diaz is a vote for hate and children dying ie polio and small pox and stupidity
Given that both smallpox and polio have been eradicated in the US, I'm much more concerned about Zimmerman closing schools.
You are an idiot
Diaz is RFK JR anti vax it will come back k with a vengeance. Learn science
Not to mention Diaz is an ignorant subhuman racist
Stop with the Covid nonsense we had a novel virus everyone did their best, no one overtly tried to stop children from getting an education but Diaz who literally did not show up for the students in her classes. Why are you not angry that she was paid to stay home and not show up? Why are you not angry she did not teach during Covid ?? She stayed home!!!
Not, not everyone did their best. Lots of people did. Doctors and nurses went into hospitals, clinics, and offices and did their best. Police officers and fire fighters continued doing their best. Manufacturing workers did their best. The many teachers in school districts around the world that reopened in the fall 2020 did their best. And many MCPS teachers tried to do their best, but MCEA continued to fight reopening effort long after the other two unions agreed to return.
The only person who didn't do their best was you as your needs seemed to TRUMP others. There was NO safe way to reopen and many that did reopen were not large schools, or other factors. They were right to do what they did and even when they reopened many choose to stay virtual.
Diaz refused to return in person. She refused to do something as simple as masking. She told the kids not to mask or vaccinate. She was put on paid leave, doing nothing for a while while she fought it. Her students were not getting taught. She then told everyone to homeschool, which she did for her youngest. She is incompetent as a teacher and hasn't done anything to earn a seat.

You’re already wrong bc MCEA never wanted schools closed indefinitely. Educate yourself, because you’re just embarrassing yourself. At best, you’re proving your own ignorance. Worst? You’re straight up a liar.
You've got a short attention span. They were mad when schools partially opened in the spring of 2021, and they were mad when schools remained open in January 2022.
And you want to put them on the BoE. That's nuts.
DP. I don't understand having this hatred towards teachers. These are the same people leading classrooms your kids are in every day, if you have kids.
The issue isn't teachers-- it is MCEA. The union is behind Zimmerman, not rank-and-file teachers. Just like the union was behind school closures and the opposition to special educator recruitment incentives, not the teachers. MCEA shouldn't be anywhere near the board.
You...you realize at one point in her ridiculous teaching "career" Diaz was a part of MCEA, right? The union IS made up of...wait for it.. TEACHERS. What don't you understand about this? Like, how is this hard to understand?
And teachers will often explain that they don't think the union is representing them well.
Teachers aren't the problem. MCEA is the problem.
You're just kind of a stupid person. MCEA is teachers. Made up of teachers. They might not represent every single teacher individually but what entity can? So teachers shouldn't be near the BOA? Teachers are the ones in the building (unlike Diaz who didn't bother to show up for work), every single day doing the work. They know what needs to be changed/fixed/etc. They are the people you want on the board.
Teachers have a conflict of interest. Their interests do not always coincide with what is best for students. That was made very obvious during the pandemic, but there are many other opportunities for that conflict to come through. The other big ones are early release days and virtual snow days. But we've also seen the union push back on attempts to restructure compensation and incentives based on supply/demand for the position (e.g., special educators, STEM).

And Zimmerman is a rank-and-file teacher. She's not an officer of the union.
But who set her up to run? It's right there in the financial disclosures: David Stein and Jennifer Martin.
"Set her up to run"? That's quite a stretch. They donated a couple hundred bucks to her campaign, alongside a bunch of other donors. Nothing wrong with that.
