You “put your foot down” by letting her keep $400 worth of unauthorized purchases and giving her her own credit card. For which she was “not happy”.

No words Op. You’re doing your DD a huge disservice.

Keep some of it and say it’s now part of her birthday/holiday present

Who would buy 15-20 things all at once?!

A teenager whose parents have no backbone.

Op good luck with her over the next few years.

We changed the Apple Pay on my 16 yr old's phone to a checking account/debit card that gets her monthly allowance so if she doesn't have the money in the account the Apple Pay will be denied. Having it attached to a regular credit card means she can still run up to the limit.

Teach her now how to budget unless your training her to be Tori Spelling 2.0.

My stock in Sephora and Ulta just keeps going up with this Teen Marketing craze. And the market is still so under penetrated, can’t wait!!

Update: I've decided to let her keep the stuff this time around. However, I'm going to get her her own credit card (with a limit, of course) so that she can practice spending responsibly. She was NOT happy to hear this, but I had to put my foot down.

I feel like the entitlement teens feel for this sort of luxury feeds into the sugar baby mentality.

Sephora has a no-return policy for vibrators

Now OP's follow-up finally makes sense.

OP- you reap what you sow. Enjoy your DD in the future. This was a great learning opportunity and you blew it.

19 yr old. Not 29.

This is so easy. Shampoo, conditioner, hair serum ALONE runs me $100 at Ulta (Redken brand). Then let’s say you get foundation and concealer - there’s another $85. Then you get some Rare beauty blush, and a new brush for that- $50. An eyeshadow palette- $75. Charlotte Tilbury highlighter - $40. A few lip products - $75. A fragrance - $100. Whoops, you’re there.

Yup. Have fun learning this lesson again later in more expensive ways.
