Interesting paper here that runs the numbers.
It’s not good.
Be interested for a Trump voter to provide detail on how the Trump policy will improve our economy.
“We find that these steps would result in lower US national income, lower employment, and higher inflation than otherwise. In some cases, economic conditions recover over time, but in others the damage continues through 2040.
And despite Trump’s “America first” rhetoric, these policies would harm the US economy more than any other in the world, particularly trade-exposed sectors such as manufacturing and agriculture. In some cases, other countries would enjoy stronger economic growth than otherwise after receiving inflows of capital leaving the United States.”

Why would you think there will be tariffs? I doubt there will be any meaningful tariffs with Mexico and Canada. China is another story.

Is this why Biden's economy was so bad?

Mexico makes up 64% of U.S. vegetable imports and 46% percent of U.S. fruit and nut imports. Texas is very dependent on trade with Mexico. Any slow down in trade will hit Texas a lot harder vs other states.
Canada exports wood products, cars, car parts and oil to the US.
The Chinese are flexing on the supplies lines now and US businesses are freaking out.
These tariffs will be incredibly disruptive. It does not seem like Trump understands how interdependent the US economy is with Mexico, Canada and yes China. We have worked to interlink our economies with Mexico and Canada for 30 years and one day in Jan all of that will be thrown away?
Remember these are punitive tariffs.
Trump has got Democrats to argue that taxes are bad. Incredible.
Depends on who is being taxed. Your average trillionaire can weather higher taxes far better than your average blue collar worker. A wealth tax or luxury goods tax won't actually hurt anyone. So yeah, taxes can be good or bad, depending on who is being taxed, and how those revenues are used.

So we’ve now passed the point of pretending that tariffs will bring down inflation?
I guess that means MAGA doesn’t care about inflation anymore? People must not actually be “hurting” then, amirite?

Trump imposed tariffs during his first term. Economists all said that they would destroy the economy, blah, blah. Basically some luxury imported items got more expensive but the world did not end.
Then Biden followed Trump and then just kept these tariffs and all of a sudden all of those economists didn’t say anything. Then Biden decided to expand the Trump tariffs targeting even more Chinese goods and the experts continued to stay silent and many even applauded.
Now Trump is back proposing tariffs and all we hear is that it will crash the economy. Getting real tired of the partisan experts.
Let me get this right. You’re not following the news at all, and you don’t know WTF you’re talking about.
You have not learned a thing since Tuesday you arrogant fools.
If you think people are gonna pretend to be stupid to help you with your self-esteem issues, you are going to be disappointed.
Facts are facts. Tariffs will increase inflation.
Tariffs will bring down inflation. My god you’re dumb. Nothing worse than arrogant dummies.
