For parents who are puzzled by the amount of homework their student's are receiving in AP classes they might want to take a look at how much content and skill development the College Board has required these classes to cover. I was a history major and am currently an AP European History teacher and the amount of content we are required to cover between August and May is absolutely insane, and way more than I ever had to know, even in the most rigorous upper division college class. Add the content to the skill development we are required to incorporate to get them prepped for the exam and it becomes very clear how it is impossible for us to cover everything in our daily class periods without regularly assigning homework. AP Euro students and their parents need to understand the workload they are undertaking is due to the expectations created by the College Board. Us teachers are constantly under pressure to move as rapidly as possible yet instruct with the depth these students need to be successful. If it's any consolation, we are super stressed and exhausted also.

I graduated from Radford University back in 2005. I might be a long time ago, but the classes were basically based on EXAMS. Very little homework was given. English 101 had like 3 essays per semester that was about it.
So what is the point of them giving them so much work for AP classes?

Plus I am sure all the international students have not done AP Us history, but they still get in.

Yes, if the high school offers AP US History, and the student wants to be competitive for UVA, tgen the student needs to take AP US history.

A slightly lower level like dual enrollment might suffice, but the student will need lots of other APs and stellar stats elsewhere.

Since when is dual enrollment a lower level than an AP? Totally depends on where you dual enroll through, right?

Your kid needs the most rigorous AP/DE/IB course load to be competitive for UVA, plus 4 years of one language, AB Calculus, AP Physics, and AP Chem, and I would say above a 1450 SAT, or 1500 plus for some demographics like white or asian
