haven't found that to be true. kids at WASP is pre-law
Pre-law kids are known to be competitive at Williams, particularly those in the Williams law society. If you think the type of individual who has a 4.0 from a top liberal arts college with tutorials and seminar, has a high LSAT score, and a desire to go to Harvard or Yale law isn't competitive, you're kidding yourself. Sure, some kids are shy or struggle to take advantage, but they will ultimately do worse than the more "aggressive" students, LAC or university.
I really dislike the "coddle" narrative by the parents here. It's simply a difference in how the institution is run and exercises a liberal arts curriculum.

This is a lot of judgement for a relatively mundane act- choosing a college.

we live in NYC and these schools are very in demand. and these are kids who have been taking the subway to school since 6th grad so I doubt their intimidated by the mean streets of Cambridge or Palo Alto.

Colleges don’t groom anything. They take already successful people and give them resources to sustain their success.

I didn’t go to Williams, but am quite familiar with it. It seems to groom people for success in ways that very few other colleges do. People seem to graduate from there all polished & ready for prime time.

WASP are much smaller with a fraction of applicants so this makes sense.
Plus, 1/4 of Harvard and Williams admits chose Williams
Only 1/10 of Harvard and Brown admits chose Brown….
WASP = lower Ivies, for the uninitiated.
