It almost never has negative implications before age 4 (where dental issues may start in some). Dentists may disagree, but do you hope for braces (which most will need anyway) or a psychiatrist and anti-anxiety meds? Even adults use oral means of self soothing, but in more subtle ways.


Makes sense. My daughter who had her pacifier at all times until 4 years old was the calmest most chill baby. She was never irritable, never crying, she was satisfied just being with the group. She didn’t bring it to preschool but she never had any problems.

They were wrong with good intentions. They raised kids in a harder generation. But you know you are wrong for letting your 3 yo have it. I assume you are doing your best however.

Who is this “we”? How old are you and what are you doing right now to make the world a better place?

There are millions of people in their twenties and thirties who are making a difference right now, the so called millennial generation. They don’t need to wait until someone “kicks it”. They are out there heading large corporations and working on important causes.

Definitely don’t rush her based on the ignorance of other people. I would let her have it in the car too especially long drives.

I remember there was a picture of Siri Cruise at 5 years old in the city with her pacifier. The whole country had an opinion. Rude opinions because that’s the culture. Ignore it all

I’m the one with the daughter who had pacifier until five. It was not generally “old women” . It was all type of people. I’ve never heard of this stereotype anyway.
