STA’s degree of communicativeness could certainly be improved. However, it should be noted that there were complicating factors in that incident. The school leadership met with parents but there were legal constraints on how much information they could share.

The head varsity coach at Stone Ridge is not a "dud" by any means. He is a respected club coach in his own right. Club swimmers are generally excused from Stone Ridge practices on days when they attend their club practice. This is the case for all of the club swimmers, not just potential Olympians. If you listen to the aforementioned Olympians you will note that they always include their Stone Ridge experience as as essential to their development as swimmers, and as persons.
