JMU honors college $32k
U South Carolina. Capstone scholar With merit, $37k
WM waitlist, NOVA this fall/ guaranteed spring admit. $42k
Indiana Kelley direct admit. $57k
Pitt Dietrich direct admit, no merit $55k.
Pitt, get good grades, transfer to UVA or William and Mary.
why would you have him pick almsot the most expensive option? Pick from JMU, USC, Indiana whichever felt best after visiting.
In case he can't transfer and is at Pitt...it is the best of the lot other than William and Mary.
Pitt is better than IU Kelley?
For undergrad, yes. I know a kid from the Gym there now at Pitt doing business. He got money but he turned down Gtown, GW, and W&M for it.

Hmm tough if going to be in NYC after grad. Miami is up and coming but would do Fordham for alumni connections.
Totally agree with you.
I do feel Fordham is not ranked well recently. Personally I prefer to Richmond, but I just do not know which is better regarded in the business world between Richmond and Miami.
I immigrated to US about 10 year ago, and this is my only son which will go to college this year. I do not know much about colleges in the US.
Does your child speak Spanish or have any ties to Latin American culture? That is definitely a big part of Miami if he wishes to stay in that area after graduation.
Fordham Gabelli is well-regarded and has name recognition, plus NYC business ties are invaluable.
Richmond is a much smaller city (and has some Southern culture to it) so just a very different feel from NYC or Miami. But, it’s not a bad place to go to college!
Unless your son is really looking for a change from NYC, Richmond is a whole other world. I say this as a spouse of a UR Business grad. It's a really small school with a very tight and mostly local alumni base. Most of the kids from up north who come here, though, stay here (DH is a perfect Jersey transplant/example). We have four seasons, only two hours from DC/mtns/beach. Slower pace, much cheaper COL. There are a lot of reasons they don't return to the nest.
Worth the train ride down to see for yourself.

Carnegie Mellon (BXA, loves both music mentors)
Boston U. (12k merit annually, loves 1 of the music mentors)
UMD (in state full merit tuition annually + FIRE program, loves 1 of the music mentors)
Kid values social aspect (wants to have fun as well), I value $ and closeness to home, would like to not be impressed with the name of the school (is that possible???
BU but it is a very urban campus. UMD I believe is a very spaced out campus in several locations?

Indiana Kelley direct admit. $50K
VT Pamplin direct admit. $34K (in-state)
Penn State Smeal. $58K? (no merit)
WM (no direct admit avail). $45K? (we have prepaid plan)
Waiting for UMich, but it's expensive/hard to get in
1. Michigan
2. W&M due to cost
3. Indiana
4. VT due to cost solely as to why over Penn State
5. Penn State.
Assume wants to be in DC area. If NYC, would definitely go all in on trying to get into Michigan. I think cost savings still good for W&M in two if NYC.
