Laura Bush killed a guy in a car accident and didn’t go to jail for it. That’s an accomplishment

She was a wonderful First Lady but she is not professionally accomplished.

She chose being a political wife as a profession and was good at it.

It was a finite period of time in the role and she was basically a tragic character during and afterwards hitching her ride to a**hole men. She is not "professionally accomplished" in any sense of the word. She was glamorous, gracious, kind, etc. but that wasn't the question.

HRC hitched her ride to Bill. Bill is an a**hole man. Take Bill out of HRC’s history and tell us what she accomplished without him?

Edith Bolling Galt Wilson was second wife of the 28th President, Woodrow Wilson. She served as First Lady from 1915 to 1921. After the President suffered a severe stroke, she pre-screened all matters of state, functionally running the Executive branch of government for the remainder of Wilson’s second term.

I would Mrs. Wilson was the most professionally accomplished. She didn’t run for president after her president husband left office, despite her obvious ability to be president.

In My Memoir, published in 1939, she stated emphatically that her husband’s doctors had urged this course upon her.

According to...Trump, who also claims she has a bunch of university degrees and was a supermodel.

She’s beautiful.

That's not the subject of the thread. Pay attention.

Pp brought up Melania’s modeling career.
She is a beautiful woman. It’s not easy to maintain that figure, big accomplishment on M’s part.

So we are switching to first kid now?

I don’t think Bush 2 was considered a first kid as he was not a kid who lived in the WH when his dad was president.

Privilege helped nonetheless.

In 2000, Newsweek magazine observed that there as many, if not more, Democratic political families as there were Republican "dynasties.”

Many of these families moved to national prominence from a single state or region, for example: the Huntingtons of Connecticut, the Longs of Louisiana, the Harrisons and Lees of Virginia, the Roosevelts of New York, the Daleys and the Stevensons of Illinois, the Muhlenbergs of Pennsylvania, the Tafts of Ohio, the Frelinghuysens of New Jersey, the Lodges of Massachusetts and the DuPonts of Delaware.

Other families are or have been politically involved in multiple states. The Bush family includes two presidents (one a former Vice President, the other a former governor of Texas), a senator from Connecticut, and a governor of Florida.

The Kennedy family included a president, an attorney general, and a senator from Massachusetts in one generation. Other members have been elected to public office in New York, Rhode Island, Connecticut, Maryland, and California.

Bill Clinton served as governor of Arkansas before being elected the 42nd president; his wife, Hillary Clinton, was elected as a senator from New York before serving as secretary of State.

Members of the Rockefeller family have been elected to public office in New York, West Virginia and Arkansas.

The Udall family first became prominent in Arizona, but three cousins from the most recent generation simultaneously served in the U.S. Senate from Colorado, New Mexico, and Oregon.

John Adams

George Bush II never thought of politics until daddy made President, Jeb was into politics before George.

John Adams son became president John Q. Adams. His son Charles Francis Adams was one of the leaders of antislavery paties before the civil war and was Ambasador to UK during the civil war -- many credit him with keeping UK support for the South to a minimum.

Bush II was two terms which Daddy was not.

FDR's son James was a WWII Marine hero and ran but lost for Mayor of LA and gov of California

Teddy R's son was the only general to go ashore with the first wave on D-Day at Omaha Beach. He had held lots of major government and private jobs before.

Lincoln's son was Secretary of State.

Quite a few.

Many would argue that she gave up a lot of her goals and potential by supporting him when he was governor. People who knew them both in law school thought that she would have the brighter future. So I suspect she would have done even more without him.

Not necessarily.

So Hillary lost two presidential elections because of Bill? Bill Clinton hobbled HRC?
