Easy to imagine....
4 kids to put through college @ full pay.
One kid goes undergrad for free and funds parents saved will pay for top law/grad school (also @ full pay which will cost approx. $300k+).
Wouldn’t a kid who got into Harvard undergrad but attended Alabama have as good or better chance of getting into a top law school from Alabama. Is there some secret sauce at a T20 school that is going to make a kid smarter? Or is it the fact that a kid had the intelligence and work ethic to get into a top 20 school and not the top 20 school that is the differentiator.

This is the feeling I have about UMCP but I’m sure people have their reasons. Alabama and Auburn have much nicer campuses.

It depends. Those interested in STEM generally choose Auburn, and the B School/liberal arts types usually choose Alabama. It's anecdotal, but I sat through a graduation ceremony at a private school in Alabama and it did seem that there were more kids headed to Auburn than Alabama. FWIW, all of the honor student friends of my relative that didn't go OOS went to Auburn.
Sounds like kids go to Auburn if they get in. Is the Auburn campus and town nicer?

Exactly. I posted earlier about the Alabama students who earned Rhodes, Eisenhower and Fulbright scholarships. Alabama is now at 17 (including 2024) Rhodes Scholars and Auburn was at 5 as of 2023.
