So you are going to add an additional set of takeoff/landing (by far the most dangerous part of a flight), and also potentially still be on a 777? Air France has a ton of 777s in their long haul fleet, and also some 787s (although many fewer of these). Interesting risk management approach.

Honestly?? I feel like there is not much I can do about it if I want to travel. Also, all those things happened, and everyone landed safely. Yes, it would suck and be scary (the Sydney drop would scare me the most!) but I keep focusing on everyone landing safely.

I flew a max 9 today and it was one of the best flights I’ve ever taken. That said I landed and heard about the United flight from yesterday. I need them to get it together. For now my flight home on UA is a 737-700 so I’ll have to use my computer for movies but it will feel a bit better.

I trust my gut.

I was on a Boeing 737 today. Not sure if it was a Max or not. Honestly I didn't really even think about it.

After DH watched Last Week Tonight, he said we should avoid flights on any Boeing aircraft. His mistrust of the 737 Max is now so bad that if we were at the gate and realized a Max had been subbed for our plane, he would have us wait on standby for a non-Max flight. That is quite an inconvenience when traveling with a toddler and baby.

He’s a COMEDIAN! Do you just believe anything the tv tells you? My god.

I can relate to everyone’s fears. I too have an upcoming Boeing flight. I recommend listening to Liz Moody’s podcast on fear of flying, particularly the Ask the Pilot segment who breaks down how statistically unlikely an accident is to occur. Also how the media portrays emergencies. The flight that landed in Oregon did so safely. Get some Xanax, find your faith, and live your life…. While there have been incidences lately there are literally thousands of flights daily without them. Pray and have faith that your flight will not be one of them.

Have a SW flight next week on a Max 8. We’ve spent too much on the trip to cancel over that, but doesn’t leave me thrilled

8 incidents in 2 weeks.

San Francisco (1) - Plane loses wheel shortly after takeoff, crashing into the parking lot below and damaging multiple vehicles.

San Francisco (2) - Plane makes emergency landing after hydraulic leak during takeoff had liquid spewing from the plane.

Sydney - Someone hit the pilot seat switch which pushed the pilots into the controls, forcing a plane to nosedive injuring 50 people.

Fort Myers - Plane engines caught fire shortly after takeoff.

Miami - cargo plane also has engines catch fire shortly after takeoff.

Houston - Landing gear failure causes plane to skid off of runway after emergency landing.

Los Angeles - Finally not a United Airlines plane, an American Airlines plane was forced to make an emergency landing for 'possible mechanical issues'.

Now the incident with the panel.

NP here. I have a multi leg flight coming up on Alaska, with several legs on a 737-800 or 737 max 9. I am trying to be rational and think about the many flights that happen without incident, but part of me wants to completely cancel and rebook. That's stupid, right?
