Totally agree on the paella - we sprang for the lobster paella and the lobster was almost raw. Otherwise it was good, but not that different than Jaleo.

I’m a PP and a YELP Elite. My Yelp review for Rasika is there from 1 months ago. My review was a 2.5. Horrible.

Has anyone said Del Mar? Crazy expensive and gets rave reviews. I thought it was fine, not a bad meal at all (except the paella was NOT good), but just did not live up to the hype.

Im the PP who finds most restaurants to be meh.

For me, it is nothing to do with being contrary or too cool for school. It's really that the price relative to my enjoyment is just too high for me now that I'm not feeding children. These days, I'd almost always rather be sitting at my own table (or a friend's table) eating food that I or DH or a friend cooked. Since I no longer face the relentlessness and thanklessness of feeding kids, nor am I swamped with other caretaking duties like I used to be, I have more time to cook and can cook what i want without worrying about my picky eater. So having someone else do the cooking just isn't the treat that it used to be. Throw in the noise and the fact that the restaurant wants to turn over the table as quickly as possible, and it's just not really worth it to me anymore. We do still go out with friends or for special occasions sometimes, but everytime I think we would have had a better time and better food for less money if we'd been in someone's home.

We've been to The Dabney twice and really enjoyed it. The first time we did the full prix-fixe menu and it was wonderful, the second time we did the seating in the bar area with the smaller menu and didn't think it was quite as good as the first time, but it was still great. And my spouse doesn't drink, so that wasn't affecting his review. I do agree with those who think Rasika is overrated, though.
