We missed it as parents; you had to be on tumblr, discord, and quora. I think he probably was there for girls who decided they were they / them, kind of like as an adult supporter. We found out about the renaming craze from our daughter; she was on the periphery but thankfully still communicated with us. The school handled it as well as it could have. There was tremendous social pressure to “affirm”. The school informed parents but also kept things discrete. It was very hard. I think they knew he was a support mechanism for those girls, and they were ok with it. The video is of course unacceptable, but they trapped the guy. Yes, in vino veritas (lol) but they literally boozed him up and primed him. I would challenge people to think of the worst thing they’ve said about the Church or the Pope and imagine it went viral on YouTube. You think you’d still be popular at church?

As a Catholic parent raised in post-Vatican II schools and parishes, the only part that doesn't sound like everything I've heard my entire life is the actual word "subvert". Other than that, I've attended plenty of parishes where our priest has literally said something during mass that is contradictory to the black-and-white parts of Catholicism. He'll say something to the tune of "the church says this, but God says this, and so I leave you with the message that man is imperfect, god is not, and to follow the teachings of Jesus and..." and so on. Are there so many Catholics in this area who have never experienced this that they can't imagine that someone associated with a Catholic school would say this? I'm really bothered by the literalists and conservatives who have infiltrated the Catholic Church and turned their backs on thousands of years of intellectual thinking and debate.
The very fact that SR hired two gay men to lead the MS and US tells you that the school and it's community are very liberal and live up to the belief of "love the sinner but not the sin". They supported this gay man promoting him from long-time teacher to dean of the MS. However, in trying to subvert the very basis of the school's teachings, this man did not live up to his side of the contract. He can live however he wants as a private citizen, but purposely trying to subvert the Catholic teachings of a Catholic school, no Catholic family at the school can support this. After all, they sent their girls there specifically for the Catholic foundation of their girls' education. And this guy just admitted publicly that he's working to subvert it. That's a fireable offense to me.
Thank you. No Catholic family can support this. Catholic families need to speak up publicly, not anonymously on this very thing. Does anyone know if anyone is getting anywhere with the school?
Write a letter, then. Post your Facebook account. Use your name. We want to know who you are so you can suffer the consequence.

Agree.
The language about feeling “safe” is over the top. Can’t be a SR parent

Do you DMV Catholics really think that these people should be shunned and removed from Catholic society? Because a lot of others disagree with you.
no one is shunning anyone. calm down. read up on what it really means to be catholic and raise your children catholic then come back to the conversation educated.
I’ve read plenty and you can’t pick and choose from 2000 years’ theology and a worldwide religion just to suit your bigoted point of view. The insistence that every Catholic school needs to be a maga/opus dei foxhole or else it “isn’t Catholic” is ridiculous.
I don't know what you've been reading, but it's obviously nothing of Catholic theology or YOU wouldn't be the one trying to pick & choose whatever of the faith suits your woke beliefs. Catholic schools do not need to be of the opus dei or maga variety (mercy!), but it also needs to be based on full Catholic teachings. Not your pick & choose woke theology.

Not true. My DD is in the MS at SR. She told me that although she and her friends generally liked this dean, they felt what he said was wrong and hurtful. They see him in a different light now. They feel he should not be at the school any longer because he had a secret agenda to sabotage the school, and it makes him not trustworthy anymore.

I think your MS child should leave the school in that case. It doesn't sound like a good fit. It's not like your child's feelings are valid.
Anonymous wrote:As a Stone Ridge parent, I found this news very disturbing. I do hope I am not alone here. My daughter is in the upper school and never had any interaction with this teacher, however, his derogatory remarks about the Catholic Church are quite disturbing and not appropriate for a leader in the school. He should be fired immediately.
