Last year Katie did not even notify 27R families about the event until a few days prior (right as everyone was returning from holiday break) so there were not enough players available to attend.

Seems she never officially pulled the team out of the tournament either so Pride remained on the tournament schedule and all the games were marked/scored as forfeits.

Ouch - not a good look.

There are folks on this site that would blame the Pride club director for the Kennedy assassination, the housing crash, and pretty much anything else they don't like.

Who else but Pride parents would do this?

Pride parents seem pretty happy with the club. It's former Pride folks and gawkers that like to criticize.

My daughter played with Pride for years before moving on to greener pastures in high school. The biggest issue is they have far more teams than they have good coaches. Capital, for example, only has 6 teams (2 per year). It’s much easier to find 6 coaches than it is to find 40 which is roughly what she needs across all the age groups and teams. As a result, many teams are poorly coached, or use stand-ins so at least someone is on the sidelines. Kids don’t learn to play the correct way, and you end up spending a lot of money on what amounts to a slightly better rec. team. My thought is that the income generated from all these teams is too hard to turn down so the mediocre lacrosse play and instruction continues.

Well at the very least, the Pride alums on current Capital teams learned to play the correct way. Is there another MS program better represented on current Capital teams (in total) than Pride?

How does only inviting selected players not cause massive drama?

Stars parents and players were told prior to tryouts that there would be an additional opportunity for select players. My daughter didn’t make it, but she’s not upset about it. I don’t really care either. I guess some people will always looks for drama though.

Pride 2028s went last year; enjoyed the tournament. No info shared on why not attending this year. I will note that smaller roster size can make it feel unfair as full team doesn't get to go.

So only some girls were selected to go? It is my understanding that most teams just bring full roster with knowledge that playing time will be somewhat more limited.

I believe teams are only supposed to roster 12 players. Its 7 v 7. 22 person team wouldn't work.

I don’t think PP was saying the roster size was the weird part, it was splitting your team and taking kids on an invite only basis that was odd. Taking who is available, knowing it is around the holidays or winter sports, and as a result less than your team attends is vastly different than creating a smaller team of the selected best players.

It's 8v8...7v7 plus goalie. I don't remember it being that much standing around last year and DDs team brought all available, probably 17 girls. Though maybe I'm forgetting. It's also a lot more running w/o draws so probably good to have players to sub in.

I know M&D used to split their team into 2, doesn't look like they do anymore.

This is not accurate. Far as I can remember, many teams brought almost complete rosters last year (minus girls with conflicts). M&D, Coppermine, pretty sure Heros etc.
