You could vote for the Republican candidate in the primaries, then, if the candidate you liked didn't beat the MAGA nuts, vote for the Democrat candidate in the final elections. At least that way your vote has the most impact.

It is unbelievable but it’s where we are. Democracy is having knock down drag out fights but then when the voting happens - accepting the outcomes, sharpening your message, building broader coalitions, and coming back to fight another day. If we agreed on nothing else as Americans, we have accepted this. But MAGA has upended this fundamental axiom. That is what the basis of election denial is - the election didn’t go your way so pretend something was wrong with the election. It’s natural for people to be upset and to look for reasons that their candidate lost - I was upset in 2016 so I understand the urge. But pro-democracy candidates, even when sad/angry etc, will accept the results for the good of the democratic system. And that action on their part will keep their supporters in line.
We see it happening again in the intra party fighting in the House. The ultra right wing do not have the votes to control the House. But they cannot accept that outcome. So they try to upend it by removing McCarthy and then pressuring people to vote for Jordan (nobody was threatened for not voting for Scalise).
If we want to keep democracy, MAGA has to be crushed. Because it’s authoritarian in nature. Then you can go back to thinking about the policies that matter to you (abortion, taxes, whatever).
In your opinion, what is the correct method for ensuring election integrity, and what should be done if interference is suspected?

There's not much to like in politics today. I'm always confused by people who are legitimate Biden or Trump stans. And even more confused when people claim that Republicans are a "cult of personality" for Trump. I mean... seriously? Both candidates are spectacularly unpopular by historic standards and seem to get reluctant support at best.
IMO, the dems have worse ideas but better execution. The republicans have better ideas but worse execution. There's really no great option to get excited about. So OP. Just go with whatever your gut says.

I think many people find themselves in the same boat as you, but maybe not on DCUM.
I definitely have cross-party ideals.
Most of them are economy-related. Such as: we need border walls on the southern border so that we can better control the flow of immigration. We need immigrant labor, but in order to benefit from it, we have to identify these people, transport them where they're needed, and support them with services as necessary so they won't be a burden later, and more efficient sooner. We need to control spending, even if it means cuts to social programs, but we need to throttle healthcare middlemen and reduce healthcare costs so that more people can get treatment earlier and cease to be medical burdens that cost a lot when their conditions deteriorate. In short, I believe in long-term ideas that will reduce costs to the nation in the future, and generate more productivity.
But it appears that the media is giving a lot of air to weird, unimportant social consciousness battles. Book banning is just as stupid and short-sighted as having several school assemblies a year on LGBTQ+/love thyself emoting. I don't want to hear one more peep out of all these people!
Oh, and abortion should be legal at all times.

But just for your benefit:
I am in favor of closing certain tax loopholes. Which, sadly, directly targets tax-loophole-dwellers like ME. But it's the fair thing to do.
I am in favor of taxing religious institutions, and narrowing down the definition of a non-profit, because there's a lot of abuse in that quarter.
I am NOT in favor of taxing the wealthy too obnoxiously, because that just makes them shelter their wealth elsewhere. Same for corporations. We just need something reasonable is all. Inheritances are a very emotional thing, so let's not tax that too outrageously either.
We should get rid of lobbyists altogether, sorry for any hard-working ones around, but it's just not an equitable way to access power and has no place in a democracy. We need complete transparency in campaign contributions. No dark money, ever.
