It wasn’t that long ago that a car veered off the road into the bread and chocolate sidewalk cafe and killed someone. Just up the street from here. I agree - why would you choose to basically sit in the road and have a snack. Don’t get the appeal. . .

I ate here last winter. The food and service were good, but I was a little scared about the traffic zipping by a few feet away.

Rosemary’s Bistro is warm and welcoming whenever we go. The food is better than most in the neighborhood.

But they have been absolutely terrible neighbors. They’ve overstayed their welcome with a streatery that takes advantage of a loophole in the law - and alienated their commercial neighbors on the street-

More importantly they put customers at risk and cause massive traffic issues most mornings with a takeover of a public street they have no rights to.

As a long time resident of the neighborhood I have seen every other business - even the local CVS and banks reach out to patrons and participate more positively in the neighborhood culture.

But not Rosemary’s Bistro. They’ve remained silent as if they don’t even notice the massive uproar they have created. It’s ugly, unwise and sends a signal that their own revenues matter much more to them than the well being of their customers and the good of the neighborhood.

It’s time for them to respond to the many many complaints and show up like a contributing member of a vibrant community. Shame on them. Wrong spirit and wrong message for what is a very warm caring community that has provided them with loads of good revenue.

Because that's the intersection with Nebraska, where the buses meet, and hundreds of kids cross that intersection on their way to and from Deal and Jackson-Reed.

It is the most dangerous intersection on Connecticut in terms of accidents. It is the most congested intersection on Connecticut in terms of volume. And it is most heavily used pedestrian intersection.

At the very least, if it’s gotten to this point, they definitely aren’t playing nice with their neighbors, which I find concerning.

The Rosemary's Bistro streetery is awful looking and it's a hazard, especially close to intersections where lots of kids are walking to public schools. I pass it multiple times a day and never see anyone eating there. Why does a private business get to take public space for free?
