My local Walmart has one checker and 50 self check out centers. Walmart is way worse than Giant.
I waited in line for 15 mins for the checker last week because I had a cart full of items. And to make it worse they have 50 self checkouts and about 25 employees doing nothing other than standing around eye hawking customers as they wrestle with the machines. While one sole checker has a line 20 deep of people waiting to check out.
The optics are so bad but they don’t seem to care. They get paid for standing around doing nothing other than staring at their hand held monitoring devices. It so odd. Dystopian. A sign of the times.
They’ve sunk so far from the cheery midwestern origins of the smiley octogenarian Walmart greeter.
Are you legit complaining about the quality of service at Walmart?

Love Samsclub for the scan with phone function. Wish Costco had the same.
I agree with you on annoying self checkouts at Costco. Why can’t I just scan the barcodes? They do check at the door so it’s not like I can shoplift.
The cashiers also started asking to unload the cart instead of just putting things barcodes up and scanning them in the cart.
Super annoying
I love when I get a fast employee at Costco who will scan inside my cart! Only during busy times though, otherwise I have to do it myself and take all the items out. Though I’ve found if you mess something up they will sometimes just finish for you. The phone scanner at Sam’s is good, but in general we just a crappy Sam’s that isn’t as well run or as well stocked as Sam’s in other places. I have no idea why.

Those are disappearing at my Giant and getting harder to find. I asked and they said was due to theft. People just walk out with them and keep them so they may do away with those too.
Wegmans ended them.

I take one or two expensive items per trip (usually 3 trips a week) and I simply don't scan it. Yesterday I walked with $22 of Peets coffee beans for free. Last week I didn't scan $16 of British Cheddar.
If they want me to bring my own bags, check myalf out, pack all my things, they can either adjust price to account for my labor or I will.
You are a terrible person lacking in morals. You are also not very bright. They have adjusted the price to account for the customers doing more work—if they had to pay lots of cashiers, prices would be higher. Trader Joe’s has made that choice and saves money elsewhere (by having more limited choice and distribution lines).
You are the reason the rest of us are suffering with the new software. We can’t have nicer things because of awful selfish people like PP.
