Idiocy. Soldiers get at least a dozen different vaccinations in basic training, as well as additional vaccinations on deployment depending on the region, or as per routine schedule. That's been the case for generations. Ask your older relatives who served in Vietnam as an example.
Anyone unwilling to get vaccinated is not fit to serve.
I guess you're unaware that the courts have ruled otherwise: https://web.archive.org/web/20041028230926/http://www.military.com/NewsContent/0,13319,FL_anthrax_102804,00.html
The anthrax vaccine was very similar to the covid vaccine in that it didn't have FDA approval, it was believed to have serious potential side effects, etc. The courts ruled service members cannot be required to receive them.
BTW, there's also a long history of medical experiments being conducted on soldiers without their knowledge or consent, and that resulted in a lot of distrust between the medical community and the military, along with the marginalized communities that are overrepresented in the military.
At the time the military was being required to get the vaccine, it didn't have approval.
Besides that, the military is young, healthy, and low weight. There was really no reason to make them get the vaccine. I'm a vet and I had to take unapproved vaccines, and I don't want to be part of making current servicemembers take unapproved vaccines.

The only answers I see are—
1) significantly raise pay
2) offer citizenship in a change for X years of service
3) increase free student loans/tuition programs
4) institute national mandatory service which could be military, teaching, police, medical, or civilian conservation corp. pick one and give the country at least 2 years of it.
4 all the way!
We need a national service requirement for young people between 18-21. Let them choose military or civilian service. Offer some program to tackle climate change preparedness issues and the like. Defer for college if you want but then immediately serve after undergrad. That would give me hope for the future.

Second, I’m a liberal whose father served in the Korean War in the Air Force. I took the ASVAB and did well. The only job they had for me was medic. This was in the late 80s during the draw down. I ended up not enlisting. The Gulf War happened 6 months later.
Why I am against my daughter enlisting. I work with many former military. It doesn’t seem like a welcoming place for women. The sexual assault numbers are terrible and it’s a hostile environment for women. I also one who associates the military with the Insurrection (as the article mentioned) and the 3%, Proud Boys, and Oath Keepers. I see it as a proxy for the White Supremacy/Neo Nazi movement…Especially when there is any sort of backlash toward DEI the military undertakes.
Here's what you've done to the military:
You've promoted single motherhood far and wide. It's working. Just look at how many single women are raising boys. They don't turn out the same as a two parent family.
You've pushed tbe idea of toxic masculinity causing self-doubt in boys to men.
You've turned the military into a social experiment. That comes from the pentagon.
You've also turned it into a paper pushing exercise. Death by powerpoint. Plus, you want an inquiry for every fire fight. Seriously, you want to judge every shoot as good or bad shoot (in the heat of battle) and then punish according to that. It's ridiculous.
You have no idea of the negative reinforcement you send by your actions. Oh, and BTW, more money and benefits doesn't solve this. You can't buy your way out of al tbat messaging. You are so engrossed in pacifism at this point, who the heck would want to serve.
No pledge of allegiance, a pride flag in place of the U.S. flag and telling everyone everyday we're evil colonialists. Of course you can't make the recruiting numbers. We are a joke of a nation today.
Yeah, because women should stay with their abusive husbands.
And the reason why we are a joke of a nation has nothing to do with the reasons you've mentioned.

Conservatives are the warriors of consequence and the go - to strong when break downs or war occurs.
Still the fact: Maybe some of this was true 20 or 30 years ago but young conservatives of today are mostly just whiny, pasty, pudgy incels who couldn't get laid or throw hands if their lives depended on it.

Sure seems like you're wrong, or are West Virginia, Kentucky, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee more liberal than people think and New England, California, Washington State, Colorado, and DC more conservative?
Maybe they shouldn't have fired people for refusing to get covid vaccines.
