What the teacher is doing IS a big deal. Your need to minimize everything about this is suspect. I agree that op should contact the admin and the teacher and decide what to do based on their response. Do you think the teacher is even going to respond given she is probably no longer under contract. If what op's child said is true, do you think this person should be teaching minors?

Do you think OP has checked the video to see if it shows what her DD says it does? Wouldn’t that be the first thing you would do? If it does, that teacher should have an opportunity to explain herself. On the record, with witnesses.

I can't offer any judgement or advice until I know exactly what is going on here, and vague talk about a "cry board" (whatever that means) in the context of an upset child with a failing grade really tells me nothing. Is the teacher abusive? Maybe, but I can't say until I know what OP means by "cry board." At this point, it is just as likely that the teacher has a designated quiet area for emotional kids who need some space to calm down. OP refuses to say.

Also in my county teachers are not available within a week or so of school ending. Their contracts end and we found they wouldn't respond. Op will be dealing with the administration anyway. This is how reputations are ruined. What if the teacher isn’t guilty of this, and the video doesn’t show what the student claims it does? Then the teacher’s reputation is unnecessarily damaged and the OP’s reputation is destroyed.
