I own a place mid-Cape. Husband refuses to retire there. Wants to stay in this S-hole area

Sonoma or Napa Counties - more bang for your buck, access to San Francisco and other parts of California. Drawback: wildfire danger.

Southwest resident here -- we have hardly any insects, and everywhere has spiders and snakes.

I couldn't imagine living in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan -- I've never seen so many huge bugs.

Is nice about eight weeks a year and brutal the rest of the time.

This is why snowbirding is my ideal.

Doesn't get as much snow as Buffalo/Rochester/Syracuse, but I think it's much colder in winter

Couldn't find housing I liked, that ultimately pushed me away

Smallish city in the finger lakes region infused with an international flavor from the university (Cornell). All sorts of people there. Cool combo!

💯

Ithaca flies under the radar relatively speaking

I'd go to New England, buy a cute little cottage in a college town with a white picket fence and roses spilling over the fence. But before doing that I'd buy a camper van and travel around to see what I like, then rent for a year or so.

I think you should be a snowbird and live in NYC during warm months, and either Hilton Head or somewhere between Tampa and Marco island during winter.

Home doesn’t have to mean just a single location.

Why does it have to be the US?
