Not really since few DMV students are going to get into UCLA or Berkeley due to the fact that the regents are reacting to citizen complaints and thereby are reducing the amount of OOS (which includes international - a huge component from China, Japan and INdia for those schools) to only 10%. Only an extraordinary kid from this area is going to get in

Really, the only flagships worth a damn are UCLA, Berkeley, UM, UVA, and maybe UT Austin.

See: WI, NC, GA, FL, TX, VA, MI

Only CA, MI, and VA have flagships regularly in the top 25. MI is currently solidly blue (gov, senators, and both houses of state legislature are Dem); VA will trend back toward solidly blue because of abortion. And CA is of course the bluest blue.
Florida is ranked pretty close to UVA at #29.
Most recent rankings has Florida ahead of UVA.
which ranking? I'm waiting for the UVA booster to now claim rankings are all crap.![]()

Or maybe those states don't care about higher education as much as Florida or Georgia or Texas. Have any NE states even attempted to set up R1 universities?
What? The University of Connecticut is one of the most well-regarded R1 universities in the region, maybe even the country.
UMass Amherst isn’t far behind.
