True, at this point in most professional fields I usually hear and care more about where someone went to grad school. M7 business schools, T14 law schools, and Stanford/MIT/CalTech for STEM grad degrees are all generally impressive. I'm never impressed with where my doctor went to undergrad; I want to know med school, residency, and fellowship info!

Similarly, where people have worked is becoming more impressive and relevant than where they went to school. It is why LinkedIn profiles often lead with something like Xoogler (former Google employees) even if the person has degrees from Stanford and MIT.
