I hear this argument all the time, but I live in LA, have never tipped, and always get mg orders on time. I get monthly credits from Amex and Chase, so I order weekly from doordash, instacart, Uber eats, and Walmart+. Never tip, never an issue with my order! If you don’t like it, get a job working in a store. If tip was required, it would be part of the bill, it’s optional, so my option is no tip.

Tip culture has gotten so out of hand people are asking for 20% at a 100% self service market. The person who is cheap is your employer- take it up with them. Make them charge a price that fairly covers the cost of labor instead of making everyone else guess and do it for them. Or go work somewhere else where you can be more fairly paid.

Delivery people in the gig economy are not employees. Want a service, pay for it.
