Homeless and high/drunk randos roaming around. Boarded up housing. It was actually sketchy is some areas. Smell of weed was rampant compared to other schools we visited on this trip. We were so excited about this being a possibility and my daughter crossed it off her list. Have not visited Maryland but a relative did and said it was nicer than they had heard. If we make it to the east coast we will consider it since the price is right and it is ranked highly in many programs.
It’s just a more put-together area and a lot more interesting. The beach, mountains, north, south, bay, food, cultural attractions, pro sports, overall academic community… vastly superior plus a ton less violent crime.
Agree. The UMD people are running rings around the U Mich folks. It’s eye opening.

Michigan boosters insecurity ends up broadcasting little known facts like Ann Arbor having exponentially more violent crime than College Park and a sky high rate of students considering suicide. Meanwhile humble UMD is safer, happier and has more football nattys in the modern TV era.
Michigan boosters should lay low and their insecurity is causing harm.
UMD has had one official NCAA championship in its history.
Michigan has 1/2 a championship since 1950
UMD has 1
Michigan has had 11 national championships (official). Moreover, let's see what happens in a few weeks as Michigan is currently ranked #1 in the nation this year. Maryland is ranked 46th.
Haha. All back before ww2 when nobody cared about football.
Not prestigious.
