DP. Good for them. There is huge demand for a classical education, especially when compared with the dross that currently comes out of public schools. Hillsdale is ranked #48 among National Liberal Arts schools - above many of DCUM's favorites. They're obviously doing something right and their curriculum is very well-respected.

This is because Hillsdale is a reputable, highly selective and well-regarded college. I loved the letter they wrote:
"This drama around teaching Michelangelo's 'David' sculpture, one of the most important works of art in existence, has become a distraction from, and a parody of, the actual aims of classical education," spokesperson Emily Stack Davis wrote in a statement. "Of course, Hillsdale's K-12 art curriculum includes Michelangelo's 'David' and other works of art that depict the human form."
Reminder: only ONE person objected to David being shown. Not "the GOP" or whatever DCUM constantly claims.

I realize I am old but I didn’t see a statue of David until I was in college. There are many examples of art that teachers can select for study. If this was in ES, I would certainly challenge the use of this in the curriculum. Even in MS only due to the immaturity of the students.
I wouldn’t care much- we have been to many museums in Europe, but I think there are just so many options out there, why select this piece? Seems weird to me.
Seems weird to me that some Americans are so hung up on this. I saw this statue when I was a young child and it didn't seem to ruin me or cause me to become "gay" or a "pervert" or some kind of sociopath if that's what you are worried about. I was more traumatized by the story of Hansel and Gretel.

yes and only one person saying that resulted in the principal to be fired. only one parent filed a coomplaint against showing a Disney movie about Ruby Bridges (a parent who was given advance notice of the showing of the movie and who signed a paper to opt out so his kid was not shown the movie) and this resulted in the movie to be pulled for all the kids for "review". especially due to the new laws passed by GOP in Florida teachers and school administrators are terrified and firing a principal just because ONE parent objected sends a very chilling message.

When I went to a Motley Crue concert at Nats Stadium last summer, I was surprised to see parents bringing their young children. Satanic symbols flashing on the big screen, women in super daisy dukes gyrating all around. On the pornographic meter, I'd say it's higher than a statue of David or a drag show. I wonder why nobody is in an uproar over that.

-Yes, illegal to cross state lines. There has been talk making it illegal for fully grown women to cross state lines to get an abortion if it is illegal in her state.
-The trans issue is way more than just not allowing minors to have surgery.
-As far as drag shows, why can't parents take their kids to them? We are trusting parents to pick out books for the school. We are trusting parents to help make a decision about their child's abortion. Why can't we trust parents on this issue?
