Now imagine asking it about some non white group
Uhh…it’s asked all the time
Cubans vs Mexicans is a massive discussion point in voting patterns within the Latino diaspora
Within Indians there is a stark Divide between Punjabis and South Indians (the former vote Republican way more often)
Within Asians you have fancy Asians vs jungle Asians (the former are way more Dems but trending r ….the lattter are more r relatively speaking)
WTH are “Jungle Asians?”
I learned it from my Korean American friend. Apparently, in Asian cultures, there is a hierarchy with the Chinese, Japanese, and Koreans viewed differently than those from areas in southeast Asia (namely, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, Thailand, Malaysia, etc). They look down on them and they really, really look down on those from the Philippines.

These are not new ideas that certain communities in the US have conditional white status, and become politically conservative when they achieve middle-class status.

Do you know what WASP stands forAnonymous wrote:Are Midwestern Americans of Scandinavian descent the same type of White as Yankee WASPs? I can’t keep up with all the categorizing here.
Anonymous wrote:It seems like a fitting rite of passage to assimilation for these white ethnic groups to hate non-white groups. It's the American Way.
Are the WASPs so far removed from their own bigotry and hate towards others that they have forgotten their storied past? How do you not recognize your ancestors in the rhetoric spewed by these white ethnic MAGA supporters?

Somehow there was never any inter ethnic strife in the USA after prior mass waves of German, Irish, Italian, and eastern European immigration. Nope, this whole division is a brand new thing.
Oh please. White americans dont divide by their great-grandparents nationality. Literally no one cares.
Uhhh, yes they do.
Only in a really commercialized way. Most white people learned about their european ancestry on a trip to Epcot.
I have had just too many experiences where someone says "I'm x nationality!" And you start talking to them in their supposed mother tongue and they dont actually speak it. You're just American. And I am also just American bc when I go to my supposed homeland, it is culturally different from how I was raised... as an American.
That’s a direct result of racism that was experienced by many white people despite the popular narrative these days about being privileged. They were so “privileged” that they had to abandon their own culture in order for their family to be accepted in America. And now they get to be told that they have no ethnicity.

This is identity politics on steroids! So white liberals are now "othering" their own kind? Aren't all whites ethnic or does one have to be a certain type of white in order to avoid being an ethnic white?
Black people do this all the time.
Please define who is an "ethnic black" vs a non-ethnic black?
Someone whose past relatives weren't enslaved in America.
Descendants of American slaves are African-Americans - That is an ethnic group.
