I would agree with this. Gonzaga and Visitation are the two most prestigious for the generational DC irish catholic folks. Prep and Stone Ridge have a more independent school feel--wealthier and more international.

Stone Ridge is a contender, and it is all girls.
But to be fair, that depends upon what the parents are looking for. I know parents who MOVED to this area precisely because of the Heights (which, yes, DS attended, so I know all of the ins and outs). But by all means continue your bigoted tirade
The OP was asking specifically for "Big 3" comparisons which I take to mean prestige and selectivity. I don't think The Heights is a Catholic equivalent, which isn't bigoted. I would say Gonzaga, Visi, Prep, Stoneridge. That's it. That's where rich, well-connected Catholics send their kids in this area. None of those other schools are in the same category, and that's not to say they are not great schools.
Yep.

Convenient to what? If you live in Georgetown maybe. If not, then good luck.
Also, while the exterior looks nice. Many interiors haven’t been updated in decades.

While the Heights may be a coveted school for a segment of Catholics in the DC area, it would not be considered a top 3 school in the area based on test scores and other factors. Not that it isn't a good school...just not as good as others that rank higher.
If we use Niche is a ranking system, the Big 3 for all private schools in DC area are GDS, Sidwell and NCS.
If we use it for Catholic schools, they are as the other poster outlined: St. Anselms, Prep, and Stone Ridge
FWIW, here are Niche's top 10 Catholic schools in DC area. Note The Heights is #8, so not bad, just not top 3.
1. St. Anselms
2. Prep
3. Stone Ridge
4. VISI
5. Gonzaga
6. Good Counsel
7. Oakcrest
8. The Heights
9. ACH
10. SJC
Big 3 in terms of what?
Most religious?
1. The Heights
2. Oakcrest
3. Prep
Athletics?
1. Gonzaga
2. SR
3. Prep
Academics? (Going off of College placement and SAT scores here)
1. Prep
2. St. Anslems
3. Visi
--Heights would be 4th here (Actually have better SAT than everyone but Anslems)--
The problem with using Niche as a source for "best school" rankings is that they take Athletics, Clubs, and Diversity into account which should have nothing to do with academic rankings.
No way SR or Prep are better ranking in sports than SJC.
Strictly sports is more like
SJC
Good Counsel
Gonzaga
DeMatha
Prep
PVI
Visi
SR
After top 3 could go any way.

None of these Catholic schools are Ivy “feeders”. They usually send a few kids to Ivy League schools and many of them are recruited athletes.
Catholic high schools have an advantage at Catholic colleges. They have established relationships with these schools and long histories. It shouldn’t surprise anyone that Jesuit colleges like Georgetown and BC view the applications of students from Jesuit high schools favorably.
And Catholic families are connected to Catholic universities and will frequently choose them over Ivies because of this relationship/ tradition.
This. My son chose ND over an ivy.
But was he accepted to an IVY? Or do you mean he chose to apply to ND?
I chose ND over an Ivy. Many do, no big deal
LOL no no no
Perfect response from one of the many Ivy-obsessed posters on there.
They are incredulous that anyone would make a choice other than the one they would.
While to many it's easy decision, They are not star-struck by the Ivy image.
They read about the required conformity of opinion on these Ivy campuses.
As one parent whose DC chose ND over an Ivy told me, "We were not interested in sending her/him to a place where our family values were under constant attack"
This is buttressed by the exposure of the adults to the Ivy grads they meet, who tell you where they went to college in the first five minutes of any conversation.
Did they vote for Trump? Conservatives tend to be anti Ivy imo as they don’t want their kids to learn how backwards their pro Trump or just right wing views are.
