The folks who really want the item and can pick up quickly are the ones who respond first. It’s not worth the hassle of going through 3 no shows to get rid of something I can just toss in the trash. Sorry not sorry admins… I’m going to speed gift almost every time.

The people who volunteer to be administrators for this sort of thing, are the tiny percentage of people who care the most about that particular system and are therefore willing to donate their time. You will not get people who are chill about it, to volunteer countless hours of time to a chore they aren’t invested in. I tend to think, ok, if this person is willing to spend 10 hours a week making buy nothing work, so that I can use it to offload my crap reliably, then I’m willing to put up with their being a bit over the top because it goes hand in hand. If someone is being genuinely unfair as opposed to annoying, then I will provide that feedback once, but I’m also willing to walk away.
Here’s the thing: It wouldn’t be such a “chore” if they would calm the eff down. I’ve been a member of mine for several years, have given away more than 100 items and have picked up at least 10. Not once have I needed admin “help.” And I don’t really GAF if someone outside of our town limits is giving and taking. Who cares? Give the stuff away, get the stuff. It’s not that deep.
