That part of the story is very confusing.

Afghani is a currency.
And these people are Hazara, which is IMPORTANT.
The lack of basic knowledge about a country and the ethnic groups that live there when we were there for decades proves to me how dumb Americans are. I give up.

Because being raised by right-wing, uber conservative, evangelical Christians, who went to Liberty for undergrad and for law school, who claim all muslims are terrorists and think all afghanis raise their daughters to be either 1) suicide bombers, 2) child soldiers or 3) sex slaves is better. Versus being raised by your cousin and his wife, in America, surrounded by your culture, language, family.
GTFOH with your bigotry.
Why would they want an Afghani child if they are this racist?
Many of these people only want white kids. This is the closest to white they can get. It was quick/easier than a real adoption or there was another reason why they couldn't adopt. I know several shady situations like this and when families fought it the courts sided with the kidnappers.
Of course they do, that's perfectly natural. Wanting a baby that is the same as you is fine, not an indictment, as you're saying.
Anonymous wrote:This is a horrific story. I adopted internationally many years ago. Every potential adoptive parent is told by the State Department that you cannot adopt a child from a Muslim country. How did he get a visa or Afghan passport with his last name? Hague convention o adoption which stopped most International adoptions also forbids them s. Somebody’s ready needs to get this case quickly into federal court. If anyone knows who is representing Afghans please le me know. There are many people who could help pro bono

If that little girl was going to be a victim of female genital mutilation, they DID do the right thing.

Lots of racists adopt kids of color. Particularly white Christian Domininionist racists who feel "called" to save the poor Black/brown children. Adoptee rights communities of FULL of stories of transracial and international adoptions where the kids of color were treated terribly by their white parents.
