Sandra Doorley, the District Attorney who charged Jakubonis with second degree assault is a co-chair of Zeldin's campaign. Because the charge was second degree and not first degree, Jakubonis was eligible for release. So, I don't think the repeated attempts to blame Jakubonis' release on progressives are warranted. To the contrary, Zeldin's own campaign co-chair is to blame.
Is there a site where we can confirm that Doorley is the co chair? I checked Zeldin's campaign site, nothing. (shock)

My Republican dad has been ranting about this since it happened. "NY is lawless, and laws must be applied to Rs and Ds equally!" He trolls all the conservative news sites all day.
Funny thing is, he had NOT heard that the DA was Zeldin's co chair and made that charge that let the assailant walk.
can't wait to hear what the Feds find out. (popping pop corn)

Weird that the right wing is more freaked out about some sloppy drunk waving around a keychain with kitty ears than they are about extremists hopped up on toxic antisemitism and "replacement theory" rhetoric shooting up shopping centers with AR-15s.
