In case anyone might not know the history - Capital has always attracted the highest level of talent in the DMV. It has always had a mix of girls from Stars, Pride, and other area clubs, including girls coming up from Richmond/Charlottesville. They typically have had more than 100 girls trying out in any given year, and have used both a two day format with call backs on the second day and a one day format for their tryouts. The actual mix of girls selected has always varied based on the talent in any given year. The clinics they host are not new, but are more visible now with Instagram/social media.
With the sport growing as fast as it has, it is logical there should be room for at least two/three strong programs in the DC DMV. Baltimore has M&D, Skywalkers, and Hero's and a ton of other decent programs - DMV should be able to support at least two very strong clubs. Key, as people have pointed out, is having a connected recruiting director and engaged coaches/staff.

Congrats to everyone who made the squad. Tons of talent in the 26 class.
One thing many folks here aren't discussing, though, is that Capital looks at recruitability when they pick the teams.
If you look at the Pride and Stars starters who didn't make CLC Blue, most of them were either undersized or didn't have great speed. Size and speed are the first two things college coaches look for.
CLC knows that its reputation is driven by strong recruiting and will put together a squad of girls who is get high D1 offers.
Just because a girl doesn't make CLC Blue doesn't mean her lax career is over or she won't have a great high school or even college career. It just means she may have to work a little harder moving forward.

The failure of Pride to capitalize on this commitment and talent now seems to be following them today. If Pride can figure out the recruiting side of this equation maybe things will change. Or maybe KM is fine with how things shake out every year.
I can tell you she is not fine with losing her players after she has developed them for years. But, until she figures out the recruiting game she will continue to bleed players. You will always lose some players who desire a new scene or coach, but losing 50% of your Red roster two years in a row is telling. The new recruiting director is showing promise so maybe the 24 team will do better than 23.
The other big question is, with more and more Pride players continuing to make up the new Capital teams, what is going on with Stars? There seems to be less and less players from Stars making Capital, especially Blue. Why is their player development continuing to get worse and worse? Is club leadership to blame there? Coaching etc? To the PP, definitely looks like Pride is in the driver seat and developing the best MS talent.
Remember 3 of the girls from Stars who made CLC B are former Pride players who left last year. There is a big reason why Stars improved so much this year. One could argue that 16 of the 22 CLC Blue are from Pride.
