My big law father met my mother at her parent’s house! He was friends with my uncle (mom’s brother) and my uncle invited him to stay over at one point in law school and my mom was home from college the same weekend.

I had a lot of privilege and financial support as the child of a big law partner, but my mom was left to do a LOT on her own and although they’ve stayed married it’s not the marriage I’d want or choose.

PP here. Most are on their trade up wife by 50. Those who aren’t, have come to an agreement with wife, they stay married for financial
Reasons but get to bang young associates.

I met my now-biglaw DH in college. Most of his friends law school are either married to other lawyers, to people they met in undergrad or grad school, or to spouses with intellectual but less intense jobs (government, academia). In several cases I can think of the couple met in law school but now one of the two is doing something with more flexibility and better hours. Very few of DH's colleagues are single and if they are, it is by way of divorce(s) so they know exactly how expensive it would be to repeat.

+1 which is why they marry each other. After while, you don't know anyone else. The only big firm lawyers I know who are not married to lawyers got married or met their spouse before they become lawyers or left the firm and then met someone.
