Yeah, I agree that most of the kids are minding their own business and having fun, but for some young people "fun" doesn't always equal good behavior. Two massively over enrolled schools empty into the same space everyday and other young people come by to hang out as well. To not pay attention to that time and space does a disservice to the good tweens + teens. It's like leaving the door to the Peach Pit unlocked and stepping out.
Your cultural reference dated you to precisely what I would have expected. "Get off my lawn" you kids! I'm trying to watch so I know whether Kelly chooses Dylan.
Everyone chooses Dylan. Geeze.
Not Kelly! She chooses herself. Iconic.

Deal is not massively over enrolled. It has what like 1200 students this year and trending down. Stop with the dramatics. With new High School and white people beginning to look more at Banneker, Wilson will be just fine, if not under enrolled in 5 years.
1400 this year
Going from over enrolled to under enrolled based on a hypothetical HS and Banneker doesn't sounds like the city is planning/managing high school options for city kids very well. Is there any master plan/vision-or is it just sort of scatter shot?

DCPS is implementing policies that ultimately come from the mayor and council. Those elected officials are carrying out the will of their constituencies. Just because you don’t like a policy doesn’t make it somehow illegitimate, particularly given that, in this case, those policies provide a more academic opportunity to a broader range of students. This is what a majority of DC voters want. That’s how democracy works.
A majority of voters want what? The idea of good schools for all. The reality is that there is a reason why so many private schools thrive in tbis area. Lots of hypocrisy- oh yes! I vote for shipping in all kids to Wilson. But my Larla? She goes to GDS.
