40 year old here. In process of separating from similarly-aged spouse. Met 57 year old at conference. Spent several great nights together and really liked him. The age freaked me out a little. But what ended it was when he finally admitted he and his wife were not actually separating as he had told me, and they still had kids at home. There are just some things a lot more important than age.

How about someone you live your own age? You say it like it’s only capable with someone over a decade older than you. And if that was your best relationship, then you’re pitiful. That does not make it appropriate.

So why did you then?

My parents were 12 years apart. My dad always looked very young. Many of their friends had similar age differences. My mom died young and a few years after she died, my dad married someone who was almost 20 years younger. My dad was around 62-63 at the time but he looked at least 10-15 years younger. 20 years later, he started getting sick - he was in his 80’s by then! His wife had a really hard time with it and kept saying she never expected to be dealing with something like this. I was genuinely perplexed. She married a sedentary, diabetic who was 20 years older and she thought he would live forever??? Yes, he really didn’t start aging until he hit his mid 70’s but still…Op, either you or he could get sick, it’s true but chances are more likely it could be him. You can still have a great life - just go in with your eyes open.
