Why bother with IAC WCAC challenge this year? It was nice last year with so few games and no inter-league play, but not necessary and anticlimactic now.

I don't get this. It's not like SJC students go to lax games that will give a home field advantage, it will just be the parents who would also attend at Eye Street anyway. I think you'll see more of the shirtless mob than Cadet students. You'll see lax fans too who just want to see a good game between 2 of the nation's top teams.

Hearing that Gonzaga is mad about having to return to PVI and St. John’s this year for their games. Weren’t they in the room when the decision was made? Are they just now getting the schedule?

Don’t get me wrong, I don’t get the decision but it’s been known.

St. Albans also plays PVI this spring.

Not sure if all teams will participate in that. Is that tournament confirmed?

While the IAC appears to be DOWN this Spring, I wouldn't just assume the league isn't good this year. The IAC was very very senior-heavy last spring with GP, Landon and Bullis all graduating strong senior classes. Top to bottom, I'd still argue the IAC, it's still a better league OVERALL, than the WCAC. (as mentioned in a previous thread, the lower half of the WCAC teams, would struggle to beat Potomac or MAC schools)

SJC and Gonzaga in my eyes, and based on recent results are #1 and #2 teams in the DC. I'd put in Georgetown Prep at #3. Prep has won 4 straight games against some very quality opponents (Gilman, Loyola, Malvern Prep, and Western Reserve out of Ohio). Prep's schedule and game results are superior to what PVI has accomplished this Spring. (best win is against St Stephens)

I guess we will get a sense of how strong PVI really is when they face off against Gonzaga tomorrow night.

I'd rank area teams as follows. The rankings will gradually start to make sense once more teams have played one another over the next month.

1. SJC
2. Gonzaga
3. GP
4. PVI
5. Bullis
6. St Stephens
7. Landon
8. STA
9. DeMatha



Tough to compare the IAC vs the WCAC considering one league has 6 teams and the other has 10.

If you compared the 2 leagues based off 6 teams, I’d say both are comparable. Again, based on your rankings the 2 best teams in the area are from the WCAC so I’d give them the edge this season. You got Prep as the top IAC team and St. John’s destroyed them.

Folks were too quick to jump on PVI and too quick to jump off Prep. GZ has quality wins and deserves the number 2 spot. With GZ vs PVI this week and Prep and GZ squaring off in 2 weeks, there will be much less speculating at that point.

Short version is still SJC by a mile. GZ clear number 2 for now, and then an interchangeable field of Prep, Bullis, and PVI.
