Regional. My husband from a western state says this. I used to cringe but now I find it endearing. He also says, "It needs done," etc.

DH is from Texas. He puts things "up", instead of "away"

Your definition of WT must be quite broad.
College partner came from southern Ohio family that owned thousands of acres of land, family had money from selling coal abroad in the 70s, and this friend is currently in pretty nice creative/IT job.
Recent partner from outside of Akron, well-mannered, well-traveled, and well-read, comes from successful business owning family with land holdings and has advanced degree in medical practice.
They do both have a little twang you might look down your nose at. But that’s your loss, LOL.

Where are the from? I know Californians who say they are going to “warsh the clothes” but that’s because they are Ohio transplants.

Warsh and Warshington are a Missouri/Illinois thing, NOT an Ohio thing. Their family was probably not originally from Ohio. Or maybe from the southern part of the state but we don't talk like that.

Looks like it's an Appalachian thing.

I never realized I did this until I started dating my husband and it drove him crazy. I had no idea what he was talking about or why I spoke like that—I just always had. One day, I was reading an article about “Pittsburghese” and was shocked to see it mentioned. My parents are from Pittsburgh and although I moved away from there as child, I know where I got it from. I have corrected myself so our kids don’t do the same thing.
