Anyway, you sound super out of touch, the whole short-haired androgynous look is super trendy amongst the tween/early teen set (think middle school). Here's a picture of J.Lo's kid, for example.

We are in DC and have a 12 yo and a 14 yo and yes, I see short hair on girls all the time. Not nerdy, more like edgy.

It's too short and seems to ride up in the back. She would have had to be really careful bending forward unless the intent was to give a show.
