All of you are racist AF.
My spouse and I have been here 20+ years. We are not white.
We still find the ATVs to be a danger to public safety. Including to non-white people like us. There is nothing racist about wanting to be safe in our city.
We have no problem seeing young Black men on our block.
Please stop stereotyping, reaching unsubstantiated conclusions, and calling people names. Doing so makes you quite similar to the racists you are decrying.
“We are not white” means that you cannot be racist?

IT IS ILLEGAL
So are rolling through stop signs and exceeding the speed limit, and both of those illegal behaviors are far more common.
Is that why DC doesn't enforce traffic and parking violations, because ATV riders are also breaking the rules? Must be easy to be a DC politician just collecting a paycheck while claiming nothing can be done about anything.
To be honest with you, I think it’s not politically tenuous to enforce traffic laws against Black ATV riders but not conversely against White cyclists and actually reducing the laws that apply to cyclists. So by creating an area of de jure lawlessness with cycling has necessarily led to allowing de facto lawlessness with ATVs. If they go after ATVs then the expectation would be that cyclists need to be ready for tickets.
Oh, I knew somebody would find a way to blame people on bicycles.
2 kids and a father were hit in a crosswalk on their walk to school yesterday, and it wasn't by a person driving an ATV, and it wasn't by a person riding a bicycle.
A DDOT study determined:
- 42% of cyclists violated traffic signals at intersections
- Most cyclists at intersections stop in the cross walk
So half of cyclists in DC break the law on a regular basis in a manner that puts others at risk to their safety. I will take you seriously about ATVs when you take that seriously.
Then that should be all the proof you need to realize that bikes shouldn’t be required to follow traffic laws for cars.
If 41% of cyclists aren’t obeying laws, then those are stupid laws. That’s why they’re not being obeyed. Because you can’t expect people to obey stupid laws. And cyclists tend to be more intelligent than the statistical mean, and the more intelligent a group is, the more likely it is capable of reason, and the less likely that group is to follow rules that don’t make sense.
