I thought this was explained when he met his banker and came home with 118k.

I think the PD had tunnel vision. In the CBS show last night, why were they only looking at that one flashlight on the counter as the murder weapon? There was a baseball bat outside, and an intruder could've had their own flashlight, or even used something in the basement. The CBS show did not show them considering any other possibilities, or ruling them out.
Thanks for the update, I missed the show today. Any other new info?
They showed the bedskirt from a guest bedroom that was disturbed, as if someone could've hidden under the bed there. That bedroom overlooked the driveway. John Ramsey is convinced that someone hid in the house and waited. He said they were gone for about 6 hours. They once again showed how easily an intruder could've gotten in through that basement window.
There was another break-in in the area a few months later. An intruder dressed like a Ninja tried to assault another 6-year old girl. The girl screamed, the mother came running and the intruder took off. The Denver PD would not even draw a sketch from the mother's description, and they didn't even consider there might be a link to the two crimes. There is a new police chief now in Boulder, only about 2-3 years ago, and they continue to investigate.
I think the girl in the later attack was 14 years old. Not 6.
Candice DeLong, the FBi profiler talking about this on the Dr. Phil Show said she was six.

WTF were the police doing during that time? Eating bagels and pineapple? Wouldn't one of the first things they would want to do is search the house? Look for ways an intruder might have gotten in???
And if they did have tunnel vision after seeing that ransom note and suspect the Ramseys, all the more reason to search the house. Search for clues that they might have kept something, stashed something, done something in the dark recesses of the basement. I don't get it. That is a long stretch of time for the body to be right under their nose.
The ransom note points so much to Patsy that it makes me think Fleet White or someone else who wanted revenge on the family did it. Like, not only will I take your daughter away from you but I will frame the family and totally ruin your life. I will use Patsy's pad, I will use the bonus amount, which few people would know, etc.
John is the one who disappeared for an hour and half. Was that before or after he found the body in the basement?
Before
