Potomac might not be as strong as last year, but you have to give them credit for their competitive effort. Took both SR and STAB to OT.
Potomac plays well and has some depth for sure!!! The Duke commit and FSU commit are doing really well and they seem to have some depth.

But do they have depth?

SSSAS should win the matchup. Starters on SSSAS are battle tested upper classwomen, most if not all are varsity returners. SR has a very small 26 class and some juniors, but at least 5? are first time varsity starters. Depending on who shows up to play and how much the SR coach yells, I call the game SSSAS -3 to 5

I've got it 10-7 SSSAS. Concur that there will be a rematch in the ISL playoff final.

Also agree that the games this week may provide some insight.

I think that the OP was suggesting a tougher schedule may make you better, vs that getting beat by the best teams gives you comparative info.

These two teams are having very different seasons on paper. SSSAS is 15-0. SR is 8-8. But the schedules tell a different story.

SR has played a murderers row, including 5 top 20 teams, and the IL number 1. They have played DC area's top team in Good Counsel, as well as several other top 50-70 programs. They are battle tested to be sure. Definitely didn't look their best against GC, and 4 goals against Milton is probably not up to expectations, but that is a tough schedule. Has it worn them down for the late season run, or prepared them better than the rest of the ISL? Is their coach's style bringing out their best?

SSSAS is clearly the best team in VA, but has really only played STAB, which is having a good year, and Lake Highland (#34 on Laxnumbers). They only beat Loyola Academy by 1. The rest of their schedule did not present any real tests (played SJC really early). Are they set up for a late season swoon like last year? Or did KJ's careful scheduling give them time to get healthy and have them peaking at the right time?

Let's get "the analyst's" views (guy who predicted SSSAS vs STAB almost exactly) and others.

I think you need to look at who you beat, not who beat you. Getting beat doesn't make you any better than the team blowing out a cupcake. Just like hanging out with hot chicks doesn't make you beautiful. Shared common opponents, are probably the best indicator.

STAB - SR v STAB 9-8 - Saints v STAB 8-7
Potomac - SR v Potomac 12-11 - Saints v Potomac 9-3
Holton Arms - SR v HA 19-5 - Saints 15-4
Collegiate - SR 16-7 - Saints 16-4

Saints matchup with Visi as well as SR v STJ this week will give you more data, but this game is going to be in the 1-3 goal margin. Of course, either team could rise above or fall below their average. Saints probably have a more reliable defense. SR is probably less prone to turnovers, thus more reliable attack.

Odds are also good this will be round 1 of a 2 round affair.

The lucky number this year seems to be 9-8. As to who has 9, take your pick.
