It’s ridiculous to say it was planned and just makes you sound unreasonable (I had to soften the word). But one does wonder why he took a moment to raise his fist and pose for a photo after just being shot—and why the SS let him. They left his head and torso exposed for a few seconds while the photo was taken.

The shooter donated to Act Blue on the day Biden was inaugurated.
Yeah, but he registered as a Republican after that.
So he could vote against Trump in the primary.
He registered as a republican in September 2021. The PA primary was April 2024, 2 and a half years later. Seems very unlikely.
For the record, there are Republicans who don't support Trump. At some point we may stop calling ourselves Republican, shift to Independent, form a new party - but I'm a Republican who voted for Mitt Romney (and still think he would have been one of our greatest Presidents) and did not vote for Trump.

If I was just grazed by a bullet I would not get up, I would be ducking until cleared.
It's good he did it. People recover from violence related trauma easier when they see immediate examples of strength and bravery. If he stayed down, the national response, especially on the right, would have been much more enraged. This way, people feel resolute and galvanized, versus attacked and cornered. You probably want to see him cower, but it wouldn't be good for the national reaction.

I don’t care what you think of his politics—former President Donald Trump just struck one of the most iconic poses in U.S. history.
His fist-raised salute of defiance is surely enough to win him re-election to the White House. Especially if the American people have to choose between a doddering incumbent and the man who got to his feet seconds after an assassination attempt and punched the air with blood trickling down his face.
Make no mistake, the image of a bloodstained Trump standing with one arm aloft instantly takes its place alongside the greatest photos in American history.
He was pulled to his feet by the Secret Service. Let's not pretend that a 300-pound 77-year old sprung to his feet. BTW, did he get his shoe back? The audio will also be iconic.
Cope.
Not cope. Trump may get re-elected, he'll do his best to ruin the country for four years (to the extent he survives old age), and then he'll finally be out of the picture for good. The clock is thankfully ticking on him.
He refused to leave after his first 4 years. What makes you think he’d leave after 4 years if he were to get elected again? He’ll be a dictator and we’ll never get rid of him.
