OMG I haven’t found the video online but Dan Crenshaw went OFF on Bob Good the other day. He called him the most worthless R in the caucus. McCarthy spent millions do get him elected - because he couldn’t do it on his own - but Good was butthurt that McCarthy didn’t call him right afterwards to congratulate him and that’s why he’s not getting a vote. Ridiculous.
As long as that district is gerrymandered, the likes of Bob Good will win. Charlottesville went 90% for the opponent, Josh Throneburg, a minister. The election prior, Good was up against a brilliant doctor and lawyer from Charlottesville, Cameron Webb, who has some sort of role in the Obama White House (I'm guessing health policy).
The district map got redrawn in 2021, but it still dilutes the blue parts of Central VA.
Good also beat normal R Denver Riggleman in the primary. Riggleman ended up on the staff of the J6 Committee.
I remember Webb but I don’t remember hearing anything about Good’s opponent this time.
The primary was a single drop box in the parking lot of Good's church. VA republicans don't believe in letting their members vote
