So looking back in this thread, numerous people vowed to never fly United again and so on.

United just posted their second quarter financials, and the Dr. Dao incident occurred at the start of that quarter.

The results? Revenues and profits both up compared to the same quarter a year ago. How quickly we forget!

will we ever find out how much that is?

What part of confidential did you not understand?

The lawyers for United made the settlement under the conditions that Dr. Dao not reveal the details to anyone not directly involved in the agreement (e.g. Dr. Dao, his family, United, it's officers and their lawyers). If he does, he breaches the settlement agreement and probably has to forfeit and return the settlement amount or some such clause. The repercussions of revealing confidential settlement information are usually very severe and not worth it to the parties involved.

Ha! Good luck with that! That guy doesn't have it in him. Betcha he'll be returning the settlement within a year!

Or at least United and its lawyers will have to go after him for it. He certainly isn't the type who will return it voluntarily.
