Elon Musk's Twitter Inc on Friday brought back the "official" badge to some accounts, just days after doing away with it, while several users reported the new subscription option for the blue verification check mark had disappeared.
The move follows a surge in fake accounts on the platform after new boss Elon Musk allowed users to pay $8 for the coveted blue check mark that was previously reserved for verified accounts of politicians, actors and other major personalities.
Who would have thunk!

These are real middle class and UMC people with families. They way they were so easily let go was sad. Elon showing no remorse. There were financial issues and layoffs were likely unavoidable, but he made it much worse losing advertisers and such. Not all but lots of layoffs could have been avoided if it wasn’t for one man’s ego.
Twitter was on track to lay off a good chunk of their workforce even before the Musk takeover shenanigans started. They probably wouldn’t have been as crude about it but the warning signs were there.

He also saddled Twitter with the debt burden that now threatens their solvency. He created the very problem he now cites as rhe reason for all of it.

Maybe this whole fiasco will put to bed the “great man” mythology that has sprung up around Elon. He was born on third base, and thought he hit a triple. He’s been sold as this genius “vision man”, but the truth is that he can’t execute on anything, and his management style is unethical and highly questionable. Before he dies he will destroy whatever is left of his family fortune and take down others’ billions in the process.
