He takes responsibility for his part, but also claps back at some of the junk that she has woven, like the idea that she was instantly a single mom and he was nowhere to be found in their kids' lives. Out of the two of them, I feel like he's taken the high road and moved on repeatedly, whereas she just continues to whine about how devastating his betrayal was. It'll be interesting to see if she takes responsibility for anything she contributed to this in the book or if she just continues to play the blindsided victim.

He only became a pastor because it was a path to power with the least resistance considering his upbringing. But he knew himself, that he’s a piece of shit. He’s not like Jen able to fake longterm. So he turned to substances to deal with the dissonance. Even before his friend died, he knew he was a fraud.
AGREE!!! They both are. I went to ANC and there was a facade of humility and grace but if you took just a small step back and observed how they interacted with people who weren’t in their little inner circle— like Trey and Jenny and Shonna and her dude, and a couple of others…. They couldn’t give any less F’s. If it didn’t advance their personal agenda, they didn’t care. I admire they adopted Ben and Remi, but I hate to admit that I think that was also a bit of an attn seeking play.

That is, until it wasn't useful anymore. The sad wake of spiritual devastation caused by these two among woman, couples, and families is pretty horrible. And for what prize?
