FFAFOF sold 17,000 copies its first week.

Anyone want to guess what Awake will sell Week #1?

I think Jen and Brandon would do well to get in touch with their own normalcy and average-ness. And then go proudly build a life from that reality and blossom from there, mostly or completely out of public view, slowly through the years. They are not any more skilled or brilliant or insightful than most people in society. And I think they truly deep down believe otherwise - because they sought out, gained and tried to sustain fame for years and still view themselves in that light. Which is why their public presentations feel off centered and out of touch.

Their marriage falling apart in middle age is a pretty typical and common story. It doesn’t minimize the pain but it does release it from embellishment and superiority. If they grasped that, if Jen grasped that, I think she might be a more honest person and better writer. I think at best her book is premature, and more likely unnecessary. She’s too grandiose still at this moment and not far enough removed from what happened to write some #overcomer #Ihavesurmountedall #Ihavetranscended memoir of sorts.

Her recent caption on IG that she has never had this many eyes on her book before and this many readers or this much positive attention. That everyone is clamoring for their corner of this thing. That all of these opinions and hot takes are coming and she is rising above it all and she is elevated and is no longer under the war of codependency. But I would argue that writing this book, at least this soon, is codependent in itself.

The marketing for this has been a bit strange and the language and fawning over the top. It shows an immaturity and stuntedness and a certain level of dishonesty - especially in comparison to and in light of what’s going on in the world at the moment.

Part of me wonders if you had rewound the clock 15-20 years back and told her, "You're going to hit a solid 15-minutes-of-fame stretch, but you'll have to lose your marriage to get the material," would she have still moved forward?

She also invited many of her sycophants, who have been tongue-bathing her with praise (Erin Moon, Jamie Golden, Kimberly Paisley, Trisha Yearwood, etc.). Her besties posted lots of pics of their trip to Nashville, many pics not with her, because I'm sure she was holed up with Big Sass.

I’ve always liked Jamie Golden and have been with her since the beginning of her podcast but she’s now a hard pass for me after seeing her going gaga for Jen.

Ditto and also for Erin Moon (and she's a deconstructionist just like Jen, so not really surprising).

Amy "staged" her house as in doing some kind of new age ritual that's supposed to ward off bad mojo or something?

*Saged

A little all over the place, but not as scattered as Glennon's stuff can be. A much more muted tone than FFF, as to be expected. A touch of humility over not even trying to help Brandon in his midlife spiraling. A few anecdotes about her family. Apparently Amy saged her house and said prayers throughout the house to cleanse it and that's why Jen now stays.
Honestly, it fell kind of flat for me. I am happy she is finding happiness after being suckerpunched by life, but it still feels like she doesn't have much peace.
The most interesting part of her story was when she had to find her way out of the financial ignorance she had let settle in her life.

Eh, gotta disagree with this.

He has mostly held back from commenting on the situation except for the podcast he was interviewed for a few years back and his recent post and Substack articles to clarify his side of the story, while still owning his role in the downfall of their marriage. Seems to me that he would rather lay low and move on from this ignominious chapter while she seeks to monetize it.

I agree too. I am sure he did not want this all to be revisited again. He’s largely laid low the past few years mostly focused on his residential real estate ventures.

Currently number 22. I would be pretty happy with that.

Pre sales can make a book look good for a week. Called one week wonders. Then a month later she he book is collapsing on the lists and are being remaindered.

On Amazon, they’ve already dropped the price of the book from $30 to $20.
